Banks and I met each other through a friend of a friend for a totally unrelated photo discussion.  At the end of that meeting she told me she was getting married later in the year, and said, “I think I want you to photograph it.”  I met Kim a few days later when I went to their place to show them both my portfolio, and we all agreed that fate had taken over.  They are the yin to the other’s yang–communicating by eye contact, gesture and side-splitting laughter.  I am crazy about them both, and they are as supportive and encouraging as they are ambitious and joyful.  They are, to quote Banks’ mother’s toast, “Good company.”

Lindsay + Ed (part 2)

As if they couldn’t be gorgeous enough, Lindsay and Ed arrived a few minutes before their guests at Canlis so we could do some portraits.  Though their style is undeniable (and seemingly effortless), their agenda is clear: they are much more interested in the celebration and in honoring their friends and family who’ve supported their union than they are in creating a photo-op for themselves.  Authenticity like that is truly my favorite thing to photograph.  It was such a distinct pleasure to meet, get to know and document this moment in their lives.

Lindsay + Ed (part 1)

So understated, Lindsay and Ed almost forgot to tell me that they would actually be getting married on Friday, the day before their Saturday wedding celebration. The only attendees to their very intimate (and impossibly sweet) vow-exchange were their parents, who were also their witnesses.  If you want to know the most happening, happiest place in Seattle on a warm, summer Friday evening, it’s the Municipal Court.  I might be a little biased…but while there were easily twenty other couples gathering that night, Lindsay and Ed were clearly the most stylish.
